Trinity Lutheran Church Council Meeting Minutes March 10, 2026
Meeting was called to order at 6:05 by Kendra Von Muenster. Members present: Laurie Brandenburg, Kim Pelzer, Beth Ahrens, Terry Hein. Absent: Kim Chapman and Treasurer Elaine Moes. Motion by Terry, seconded by Beth to approve February minutes.
MC Motion by Laurie, seconded by Kim P to approve the treasurers report.
MC OLD BUSINESS The copier has been updated to a newer to us model. Monthly lease is $60 per month, including all supplies, service, and repairs, excluding paper. A motion by Terry and seconded by Beth was made to make a recommendation to the congregation to accept the bid from Lowden Flooring for $30,147.97, to replace all flooring in the fellowship hall, hallway, women’s restroom, choir room, office, pastor office, and narthex. Council will also recommend replacement of flooring in the men’s restroom and family restroom. Recommendation also includes equaling dividing the flooring cost between the Memorial Fund and the General Fund.
MC Other discussion included avoiding construction time during VBS, which Trinity is hosting. A congregational meeting will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2026 immediately after worship service. Laurie will ask Caitlin to send out a congregational email announcing the meeting, as well as have it in the next two weeks bulletins, as per by-law requirements. It was noted that the sound system invoice was $4,689, which was $569 over the allotted budgeted amount. The $569 overage will come from the Memorial Fund.
NEW BUSINESS: 2025 annual meeting minutes were reviewed with no changes. SAM updates: Deb Cook presided over Cleo Ferguson’s funeral February 21, 2026. Midweek Lenton Services are going well; average attendance is 12 – 15 each night. Deb will be gone until the beginning of April; Charline and Laurie will be covering all services in her absence. Kim P has ordered Palms for Palm Sunday. Laurie suggested that we may need to make new ashes for Ash Wednesday next year. Laurie will be attending the Tipton Ministerial Association meeting on March 12 to discuss Easter Sunrise Service. Trinity is willing to provide coffee and donuts. ZOOM reviews are scheduled with the Synod office for our annual reauthorization. There are two more SAM Continuing training ZOOM meetings this spring, March 28 and April 25. Senior Sunday: Possibly May 17? Kim P will discuss this with the education committee to discuss. Seniors this year are Joe VonMuenster and Delaney Chambliss. Education Committee: Beth said everything is going well. There is a lot of planning going on for VBS. They are planning for the last day to be a family-oriented outing at Bennett Park. Worship Committee: Sound system is completed. Sarah Crock will be playing piano for two Sunday Services and choir practice while Elaine is gone. Property Committee: Laurie will check on the ETA of outdoor thresholds of doorways. Memorial Committee: Kim P is working with Kelly Thomas with upgrading the area behind the altar.
