Trinity Lutheran Church Minutes February 10, 2026

Attendance: Terry Hein, Kim Pelzer, Kim Chapman, Laurie Brandenburg, Kendra VonMuenster, Beth Ahrens, Elaine Moes.

Called to order at 6:04pm Devotions led by Kendra, from 1 Corinthians 12:12. March devotions will be led by Kim Chapman Motion by Laurie, 2nd by Beth to approve the January minutes. MC Motion by Terry, 2nd by Beth to approve the January treasurer report.

MC Previous Business:

A. Copier Lease Ending in March: Terri Peck is working with Tom from Office Machine Consultants to locate a “new to us” printer/copier with the same options as what we currently have. The cost is expected to be like what we have. The lease will include a monthly base charge as well as per copy charges for black and white copies as well as color copies.

B. Flooring: Janel Stephensmet with Lowden Flooring. They took measurements and will work up estimates once a product is chosen. The Narthex carpet cannot be stretched; it will need replaced also. Janel and Kelly Thomas will meet with Lowden Flooring on February 14 to look at samples to bring back to the congregation.

C. United Fund: Elaine is using two drawers in the far right filing cabinet in the music room for the Tipton United Fund. All mailings from this group will be coming to Trinity as soon as the USPS forwarding takes place. Kendra will work with Caitlin to get “mail baskets” on the wall by the office for Terry Hein, Alma Chapman (WELCA).

New Business:

A. Sound System/PA: A motion was made by Laurie, 2nd by Terry to amend the previous vote for funding of the PA system to approve 5% of the $82,400 budget ($4,120) to go towards the upgraded sound system. If this is not enough funds, memorial fund committee will be asked to cover the overage. MC Terry wondered if the old equipment could be sold, donated, or recycled?

B. Approval of the 2025 annual meeting minutes is tabled to the March 10, 2026 Council meeting.

C. SAM updates: Laurie reported that Deb Cook presided over Keith Chapman’s funeral. None of the SAMS were able to attend the in-person training on January 31, 2026. They will begin spring ZOOM training on February 28, March 28 and April 25, 2026. These sessions are from 9:30am – noon. The SAMS are meeting on February 11th to finalize the Ash Wednesday service, mid-week Lent services, Palm Sunday and Good Friday services. She will send out an updated calendar to everyone. The Lenten Daily Devotionals are in the back of the sanctuary. She suggested that next time we order these, that we order a few large print copies, also.

Laurie will contact the Property Committee. Elaine will be contacting someone about having the organ sound system looked at. Kim Pelzer and Judy Hein will update our prayer for a new pastor. Prayer requests: Cleo Ferguson is in the hospital, moving to Cedar Manor for Hospice care. Sharon Hein is coming home from the hospital on February 11th. Andrea Williams has had her baby girl, named Ofilia Grace.

**A special email vote was held on 2/17/26. A motion was made by Beth, 2nd by Laurie to contract a substitute pianist for church services on Sunday March 8, 2026 and Sunday March 15,2026 for $50 each date, and for Choir practice on Wednesday, March 11th for $20.
